History of the Family Legacy Crest:
In 2002 Terance “Terry” Anthony Redmond had an idea to create something to show family unity and to create something bigger than himself to be passed on for generations. He wanted to create something to show how we are all connected. Show we have more in common and how much stronger we are together instead of being separated by ethnicity, politics, geography, or religion.
Historically in the western world, family crest (or coat of arms) around the world were only for free and legitimate first-born males. Many cultures, tribes, towns, religions, and other associates developed similar symbols with their own set of rules. Terry Redmond decided to create something that was inclusive to the masses with one thing in common. Family.
Over a couple decades Terry spoke with hundreds of family members consisting of 42+ surnames, a few professors, and several associates about family history, family crest, and coat of arms. He also has spent thousands of hours of research on his own. He decided to design a symbol that all family members can represent with pride and pass on to other family members. He hopes this symbol will be passed down for many generations a be a beacon of pride, strength, love, faith, and giving.
